NEBADOR Review Club

The Review Club closed to new members on 31 August 2014, as that was the last opportunity for someone to get caught up with the process and be a critiquer for NEBADOR Book Nine: A Cry for Help. Any NEBADOR books after Book Nine will be reviewed and critiqued by existing Review Club menbers. This page remains in place as a reference.

Membership Requirements:
- You are 20 years old or younger.
- You read and write the English language.
- You like soft science fiction, in which the characters and their relationships are more important than the hardware.
- You enjoy learning and growing, and are not "allergic" to education.
- You are willing and able to use email. (This web site is not a fancy database like GoodReads or LibraryThing with its own message system.)
- You have a mailing address to which the author can send books and prizes, and using that mailing address is okay with your parents (if you live with them).
- You will share a picture of yourself, your favorite animé character, or some other avatar (you dog?)

If you live outside the USA, the author must hold you to a high standard of reliability and review quality because of the high cost of sending you books and prizes.

If you want to read NEBADOR Book One: The Test before deciding, you can, because it's a free download for everyone in 3 different formats.

Phase 1: NEBADOR Books One - Three
While you prove yourself a reliable club member, the author will give you the first 3 books of the NEBADOR series as a PDF document (or Kindle or EPUB ebook) by email or download. After reading each book, you will write a meaty paragraph of review and post it on GoodReads, Library Thing, preferably both, and maybe somewhere else you know of. You are free to be completely honest, but to win prizes and continue as a club member, the author is looking for QUALITY writing in your review. See the list of possible prizes below.

Phase 2: NEBADOR Books Four - Eight
Phase 2 is for reliable, quality club members who are enjoying the series. These books are not available as PDF documents, so the author will mail you real books (or Kindle or EPUB ebooks if you prefer). Write reviews, post them, win prizes.

Phase 3: NEBADOR Book Nine and beyond
These have not yet been published, and are in various stages of writing, re-writing, and polishing. If you have proven to be a VERY reliable and quality club member, who is REALLY enjoying the series, the author will send you unpublished manuscripts. If you just review them, that's okay, and you can win prizes as always. But if you give the author a CRITIQUE (see below), you will earn between $10 and $50 (depending on the quality of the critique). Those who critique can also write reviews and win prizes.

You can win PRIZES for:
- Very good grammar, spelling, and punctuation in your reviews
- A very good plot sketch that isn't a "spoiler" (doesn't give away too much)
- A very good character sketch
- Posting your reviews in multiple places
- A work of art based on the book you are reviewing that can be scanned and displayed on this web site
- Finding a place to post your review where lots of people will see it (social networking sites like Facebook don't count because few people see any one posting; a school newspaper or church bulletin DOES count)
- Convincing a library (even a school library) to request a copy of a NEBADOR book from the author (it's free to the library).
- More things will be added to this list as the author (or you) thinks of them

Possible PRIZES:
- Printed NEBADOR books you don't already have
- NEBADOR Dramatic Audiobooks (MP3 CDs)
- Hardcover NEBADOR books
- Goodies from the Pacific Northwest (smoked salmon, Aplets & Cotlets, etc.)
- More things will be added to this list as the author (or you) thinks of them

CRITIQUING means:
- Finding grammar, spelling, or punctuation errors
- Discovering story-logic errors
- Pointing out confusing or irrelevant sentences
- Describing any other problems the book has that make it less enjoyable

MP3 CDs will play on some CD players (usually the more expensive sort), most DVD players, and computers with a CD drive and sound system.
